Clear rules for every category
Each category has its own rules for what belongs in it. The team reviews the rules and corrects them when a category starts to show videos that do not fit. One video can belong to several categories at once.
When a category appears
A category shows up on the site once it holds enough videos. A category that runs short of videos is put aside until it fills up again.
Names in your language
Software writes the short texts on category pages and translates them, with the category names, into every language of the site, so a category reads naturally in German, Japanese or Turkish.
The picture on each tile
The home page opens with category tiles. Each tile shows a picture from one of the category’s videos, the name of the category and how many videos it holds.
Inside a category
Inside a category, the videos that viewers of your language enjoy most come first, and places are kept for new videos. To see the newest videos first, change the sort order at the top of the category page.
Finding a category
- All categories lists every category from A to Z.
- The search box suggests matching categories as you type.
- Every video page lists the categories of its video; each one opens its category.
Follow a category
♥ on a category tile or page follows it. With a free account, the new videos of the categories you follow gather in “My updates”, newest first.
A video in the wrong category?
Tell the team with the Support form, naming the video and the category, and the team checks the rules of that category.
Common questions
How many categories are there?
Hundreds, and the number changes as new categories fill up and others are put aside.
Why is a category higher for me than for a friend?
The order of categories follows what viewers of each language enjoy most: Why you see these videos.
